Since its also HALLOWEEN, and everyone at the meeting wanted something halloween, we can all DRESS UP! But if not, donate $2!!!! =P

Markham Fellowship: "Paraiso" GK Film Screening

"Paraiso" means "paradise" or "utopia" in filipino... If you wanted to know. Tee hee.

What: A YFC event in support of the GK Program for those of you who don't know what GK (Gawad Kalinga) is, it is an organization similar to Habitat for Humanities. We raise money to build houses for the poor in Southeast Asia (Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia etc.).
When: Saturday, September 29th, 2007 (3-4PM Talent Show, 4PM-7PM Movie Screening)
Where: University of Toronto (Downtown - Innis College, 2 Sussex Ave. Toronto, ON M5S 1J5)
Cost: $10.00 - all profits go to Gawad Kalinga.

This message is about the details for Wonderland, given to us by Vince Gomba:

What: YFC Wonderland Day
When: Saturday September 1, 2007
Cost: $28 a ticket, with $2 from every ticket going to the YFC GK Village

in order to get tickets, we just need to purchase them from the CPO Booth and tell them we're from YFC...the CPO booth will be set up next to Guest Services at the front gates...

if you cant find the CPO booth see tito Dan, tito Edwin, or tito Andrew, who are CC's from the west...they'll be able to direct you as to how to get tickets...

also, i dont think you need to be there a specific time...just be there in the morning during times tickets are generally sold...

YFC Wonderland Day

CONFERENCE WAS SIMPLY AMAZING! Markham - York Region was able to send a delegation of THIRTY to our 2007 Conference, C4H! Awesome! Awesome! in short, this summer has been incredible! and as YFC, we want to end it off with a BLAST!!!

Re: Vigil for Christina - Thank You

WOW. I can't believe that what was supposed to be our little MYR prayer meeting turned into such a HUGE thing. We would like to thank PRINCE OF CATHOLIC CHURCH for a huge helping hand at. Thank you, especially, to all of Christina's family members, friends, and even all the strangers for coming to pray for her safe return. To think, that one person could bring us together in prayer. Remember Talk 1 at your Youth For Christ retreat? "God's love and His Plan for Us".

Why: Vigil for Christina Calayca

Whether you know Christina or not, we would like you to pray for our fellow YFC member. You may have seen her at your camp, or at events. She was the Chapterhead of Downtown, and is a very strong leader in our community. She went missing Monday, August 6, 2007 on a camping trip near Thunder Bay. We are praying to the Almighty God for her safe return to us. We pray for her mother, her brother, her relatives, all her friends, and especially Christina, that they may trust in the Lord, and continue to do so, now, and in the future.

This is not an official YFC event, but we will be praying for her, and you are all welcome to join us.

EDIT: August 15, 2007 is also the celebration of the Assumption of Mother Mary.

Considering that Youth for Christ is a religious organization, we are going to have a prayer meeting. What....? Did you think all we did was have barbeques, beach bashes and picnics? UNOFFICIAL YFC EVENT: Chillage @ the Beach
Who: Markham York Region & the New Members from MY Camp Rescue
What: A chillage in the sun, some relaxation, some "doing-nothing" time.
When: Friday, July 13, 2007 (1:00pm - 6:00pm)
Where: The Beaches (Woodbine)

Meeting Place for Markham peeps:
Meet at Scarborough Town Centre Station on the platform in between the bus level and the subway level @ 11:30AM. We will wait for everyone until 12:00PM. After that, you will have to find your own way there.

Things to Bring / you can Bring:
- Summer Clothes (dress appropriately / modestly)
- Sun Glasses, Hat, Towel, Sandals, Sun Block
- Volleballs, Badminton Gear, Water Guns, Water Balloons?
- Bring Extra clothes (don’t leave your house w/o extra underwear!)
- IPod with Speakers?
- Food: Snacks, drinks…or
- Bring money for food (There’s a Pizza Pizza, etc…)

Directions to Woodbine Beach, by Bus / Subway:
- Take the RT from Scarborough Town Centre to Kennedy Station
- Take the Bloor Subway Line all the way to Woodbine Station. (Kennedy, Warden, Victoria Park, Main Street, Woodbine)
- Go on the main level and take the 92 Woodbine South bus all the way to the beaches.
- You will know when to stop…you might see water. LOL

Directions to Woodbine Beach by Car on the Highway:
- Go on Highway 401 West
- While on Hwy 401, exit onto the DVP going downtown (Make sure you don’t head towards New Market)
- Exit on 375 Don Mills Rd SOUTH (Merge onto Don Mills Rd.)
- Left / East on Oconnor Dr.- Right / South on Woodbine Ave.
- Woodbine Ave. will turn into Lakeshore Blvd. From here you will see the beaches.
- Find parking.

Directions to Woodbine Beach by Car by taking Side Roads:
- Keep driving south until you reach Kingston Rd. on Markham Rd./Brimley Rd./Warden Ave. (You have to be on these three streets to meet Kingston Rd. or else go on any other street and you will meet Danforth Rd. and turn left/south when you see one of these three streets until you meet Kingston Rd.)
- Go west on Kingston Rd. until you reach Woodbine Ave.
- Go South on Woodbine Ave. and it will turn into Lakeshore Blvd. From here you will see the Beaches.
- Find parking.
